During prime arrival times, the Riviera Bus-ADO company offers direct comfortable buses with AC departing from far side of both arrival Terminals of the Cancun airport. Cost is currently approx. 10 US per person, bus takes approx. 50-55 min. You can purchase your tickets directly from one of the red shirt ADO-RIVIERA bus employees, just out side the main Terminal of the Cancun airport. For more info on the buses, visit Ticket Bus .

Should you arrive to Cancun after the last bus has departed the Cancun airport, currently at 8:45 pm, there are private vans that will take 8-11 people to Playa you can purchase tickets for or choose to have a private taxi take you. Negotiate this price first. Last option is to take an airport van to the main downtown Cancun bus station on Ave. Tulum, and from here take one of the frequent buses to Playa del Carmen.

If you are driving a rental car and are considering crossing it over to the island of Cozumel, check first with the rental agency that they permit this. The area for the car crossings is called Calica/ Punta Venado and is located approx. 5 minutes south of the town of Playa del Carmen on Highway # 307 south. Ferry times and length vary as weather conditions and other factors influence the time of the crossing. Fares vary also ranging from 325-600 pesos or more plus the cost of the passengers crossing. During winter months and peak vacation times ferry schedules may change. Best to call ahead to the Cozumel office, 01-987-872-7671.
